Being similar in size to a credit card and access card also known as a proximity card can identify individuals and allow access to a pre- defined area by simply scanning the access card in  front of the proximity card reader. The proximity card reader then analyses the data stored in the access cards and determines whether the user has authorised access based on access level. The reader then stores the information and records the activity for future reference or reports. This type of system can monitor individuals access, protect sensitive information, property and people, it can also provide full activity reports. Access control software is password protected and allows administrator access to particular programs, networks and drives.

 

Biometrics.

 

Rather than using a physical access card to gain entry into premises Biometrics uses unique human characteristics to identify the person seeking entry to controlled area. For example a finger can be placed on a reader and the Biometrics access control system can identify the unique characteristics of the fingerprint. The biometrics reader can then regulate entry permitting authorised access only to an area. Biometrics can remove the worry involved with stolen, loaned or lost electronic access cards by using an individuals distinguishing features to prevent unauthorised access.

In NSW for a security guard to be working as a crowd control guard they must have a NSW 1AC security licence, RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate and a current VETAB approved Firs Aid qualification.

 

Checking the NSW 1AC security licence is a complicated process when you add the fact that these guards also need to have a RSA and current first aid certificate, there is no state or national registry checkup system for these qualifications, each training organisation is responsible for their own registration names and certificate numbers.
