Security Guard Trac

Security Guard TracWhat is security guard track?

Security guard track is an online security guard tracking system that reduces the risk of you being fined for using unlicensed security guards. Are you at risk of being breeched for using unlicensed security guards? The system shows you live information on security guards such as:

Guards’ compliance, Sign on and off and RSA reports for the licensee’s information.

Why would you use security guard track?

1. Security Licence: In order for a guard to be compliant in NSW he has to first have a security licence that is appropriate for him to work in the security field. Not such a hard one to check as there is a centralized data base.

2. First Aid: For any security licence to be valid the guard must have a current VTAB approved certificate of competence to prove he has done the training. If a guard does not have the appropriate first aid training then his security licence is not valid, the first aid has to be updated every three years. This one is not as easy to validate as there is no centralized data base and certificated are easily copied. In my experience first aid certificates are viewed, stored in a file and forgotten about. There are really no validity checks done. Just recently a number of first aid training organisations were questioned and confirmed that they were very rarely contacted to check first aid qualification.

3. RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol): For a licenced security guard to work in a venue where there is alcohol supplied they must complete a RSA training course and hold the appropriate certificate. If the guard does not complete the RSA training and does not have the appropriate certificate then he is not allowed to work in any venue that supplies alcohol. This one is not as easy to validate as there is no centralized data base and certificated are easily copied. In my experience RSA certificates are viewed, stored in a file and forgotten about. There are really no validity checks done. Just recently a number of RSA training organisations were questioned and confirmed that they were very rarely contacted to check first aid qualification.

Working without certification

What will happen if I work in a bar and don’t have a recognised RSA certificate?

You will be committing an offence (maximum penalty $1,100).

In addition, the licensee commits an offence where serving staff are employed without a recognised RSA certificate (maximum penalty $5,500).

4. Sign on and off reports: Generally security guards write in a book their starting and finishing times. If they are late starting or finish their shift early the supervisor will sign them on at an earlier time or finish at a later time, this can be from minimal min to 30 min or more, money wasted. The supervisor works for the company and will generally err on the side of the company rather than the client. You may wonder why they would do this. It’s because there are no checks and balances to stop them. 15 to 30 min over a long period adds up to a sum of money.

5. RSA reports: These reports are for management information and can be used as a form of compliance management proving that your staff is providing regular RSA observations and actions to prevent intoxication on your premise.
